Project will expose 6th graders to poetry and African culture

All 6th graders in the District will experience a one-week residency by Njeri Wangari, a Kenyan poet, as part of a Big Impact Arts grant approved by the Board of Directors of The Partnership Plan.

Before Wangari’s visit, students will explore poetry and African culture with their teachers and Jim Hainlen, former District teacher who has been volunteering as a poetry teacher for District 6th graders for some years.

Wangari is the author of the book of poems Mines and Mindfields.
