Harcey Walmar Scholarships for teachers

To honor Mary Harcey and Bev Walmar, pioneers in the field of Early Childhood Education and Development in the Stillwater Area Schools and in Minnesota, The Partnership Plan has recognized a District 834 teacher (or teachers) with educational scholarships of up to $500 since 2002. We are proud to continue this important scholarship and invite you to apply today.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  1. Be employed by District 834 as a teacher, assistant teacher, specialist or paraprofessional in Early Childhood or primary grades (K-2), in either general education or special education.

  2. Have been employed for at least 2 years.

  3. Demonstrate community or extra-curricular school involvement.

  4. Show creativity and enthusiasm in the classroom.

  5. Realize the student as the focus of education.

  6. Promote growth in the teaching field by exploring new and different approaches in the classroom.

Plans for the use of the scholarship will be a factor in determining the award. Scholarship awards will be first granted for college coursework, but the committee will also consider scholarship requests for continuing education, conferences and other development requests.

Previous recipients will not be precluded from subsequent scholarships.

Preference for the scholarship awards will be in areas where there is a need for teachers, assistant teachers, specialists or paraprofessionals.
