The highlight of every year here at The Partnership Plan is honoring the excellence across Stillwater Area Pubic Schools. In the early Spring we do this by honoring teachers and staff with Partnership Awards and then celebrating them at our annual Partnership Party. At graduation, we get to do this by helping to honor a new class of Distinguished Alumni. On Friday June 9, 2023 we gathered at the Lake Elmo Inn and Event Center to honor this year’s class of five Distinguished Alumni.
Five individuals were honored at this year’s banquet for distinction after graduating from Stillwater Area High School. They joined more than 100 others who have been named Distinguished Alumni since the award was first given in 1987.
This year we honored:
Brigadier General Glenn T. Harris USAF, Class of 1991, the U.S. Air Force Brigadier General oversees the operation of the country’s nuclear arsenal
David M. Pierce, Ph.D., Class of 1992, a biomedical engineer who has made significant contributions to the field of soft tissue mechanics
Zach Sobiech, Class of 2013, his inspirational song “Clouds” went viral and helped raise millions of dollars for cancer research
Pete Winslow, Class of 2012, world champion member of the U.S. Power Soccer National Team who advocates for athletes with disabilities
Sara Zara Zanussi, Class of 2006, musical entrepreneur dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth through music for social change
The variety of skills and unique contributions showcased constantly amaze us. If you’ve never attended the Distinguished Alumni banquet, mark your calendars to join us next year. The event is always held the night before graduation and you will leave feeling inspired to achieve greatness in your own circle of influence, whatever that may be.
